Del Ambiente promotes the holistic development of the Puerto Rican LGBTQ+ community in Florida and their allies.
Founded in 2018, Del Ambiente was fiscally sponsored by SOS by Urbander until becoming our own registered 501(c)3 organization in 2021. Del Ambiente came to be as a project by survivors of tragedies (9/11 first responder and 2016 Pulse shooting survivor) to create a safe space for queer Boricuas in Florida. 2019
Created the First Faith and Diversity Festival in Orlando, FL
2020
Created a civic engagement video campaign focusing on LGBTQ+ voters for the 2020 General Elections, thanks to a grant by Alianza Center.
Promoted Census participation for LGBTQ+ individuals living in Florida
Provided COVID relief cash assistance to 67 LGBTQ+ Puerto Rican entertainers in Florida and Puerto Rico in partnership with PRIDE Puerto Rico and thanks to a grant by Hispanic Federation.
Created GOTV campaign highlighting local entertainers, thanks to a grant by For Our Future.
Created the Virtual Orgullo Friday, as celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride.
2021
Launched a social media educational campaign on COVID safety thanks to a grant by Chispa.
Launched a social media video project highlighting the impacts of COVID on LGBTQ+ communities of Central Florida thanks to a grant by Chispa.
Provided COVID relief cash and food assistance to 150 individuals in Florida, thanks to a grant by Hispanic Federation.
Provided COVID capacity relief to partner organizations that identified individuals with needs, thanks to a grant by Hispanic Federation.
Joined Alianza Center’s first PRIDE Friday, highlighting the LGBTQ+ community during Pride month.
2022
Completed video series highlighting the impact of the COVID pandemic on black and latinx transgender Floridians.
Mobilized community against Florida Medical Freedom legislative proposals.
Trained LGBTQ+ leaders in civic engagement and Florida voting laws.
Partially funding the completion of a 6/12 memorial mural, thanks to a grant by Hispanic Federation.
