Advocacy is one of our three core pillars of work, alongside community programs and non-profit capacity building.  It is central to so much that we do, and remains a key focus in creating change within all levels of government.  That’s why we’re so excited to welcome Laura Esquivel to the familia.

As our Director of National Advocacy, Esquivel will be based out of our Washington, DC office and spearhead advocacy efforts in all of our core action areas, from health to immigration to the environment. She will be integral in working with the offices of elected officials, and with the coalitions we are a part of.

Esquivel joins the Hispanic Federation continuing an illustrious career in legislative and policy advocacy, most recently running her own strategic consulting firm for political and progressive issue campaigns.  Prior to starting her own consulting practice, Esquivel was the Senior Vice President for Political and Public Affairs at the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute, a national organization dedicated to increasing the number of openly LGBT elected officials at all levels of government and is the nation’s largest LGBT political action committee.

Join us in welcoming Laura!
