North Carolinians can call to obtain information about Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and to be referred to health navigators

NORTH CAROLINA - Hispanic Federation (HF), announced the launch of a new Health Hotline (NC Salud) to help the Spanish-speaking community in North Carolina access health care coverage information. As of Monday, June 3rd, this vital service is available to provide accessible, reliable, and culturally sensitive health information and support to Spanish-speaking individuals and families who want to learn more about Medicaid in North Carolina and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

North Carolinians can reach the hotline by calling 1-844-438-6827. All of HF’s call representatives are bilingual and ready to assist with a wide range of services, including:

  • Bilingual assistance for all questions related to NC Medicaid or the ACA.
  • General information about how to qualify for NC Medicaid.
  • Application Referrals: Referrals to bilingual individuals who can help you fill out an NC Medicaid or ACA application.
  • Information about low-cost medical services available in the caller’s county of residence.

NC Salud was established by Hispanic Federation North Carolina to ensure our Spanish-speaking community, especially those in rural areas of North Carolina, have a reliable point of contact for information regarding NC Medicaid and the ACA, including eligibility information and other affordable medical care options in their areas. HF aims to be the primary point of contact for the community, referring callers to the NC Navigator Consortium and other resources to ensure they receive the care they deserve.

The launch of this hotline is part of Hispanic Federation’s broader commitment to health equity and culturally competent community outreach. The organization has collaborated with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, local community organizations, and advocacy groups to ensure the hotline meets the needs of the Hispanic and Latino community.

“We are beyond proud to launch our NC Salud hotline that will provide essential health information in Spanish to the communities that need it the most. A lot of people that are eligible for Medicaid don’t apply simple because they lack access to information, our hope is that this hotline helps close that information gap.”, said Lariza Garzon, Director of North Carolina and MidSouth Operations at Hispanic Federation. “Thank you to the Camber Foundation and the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust for providing the resources needed to make these efforts possible.”
