Brent Wilkes Joins HF’s Leadership Team

Organizations are only as good as the people who work in them. Last month, Hispanic Federation strengthened its already talented leadership team by adding Brent Wilkes as our new Senior Vice President for Institutional Development.

“We are thrilled to be adding someone with Brent’s nonprofit management experience and proven leadership to our team,” said José Calderón, President of Hispanic Federation. “Brent has dedicated his life to strengthening our community, and his know-how, energy and smarts will allow us to expand and enhance our essential work across the nation.”

Wilkes was Chief Executive Officer for the League of United Latin American Citizens for 20 years. Wilkes opened and managed the LULAC National Office in Washington, D.C. and he oversaw the organization's national policy, legislative advocacy, program development and resource development. He will continue to work in D.C. as Hispanic Federation increases its work on behalf of Latino communities all across the country.

With more than three decades of public policy, program development, nonprofit management and Latino advocacy experience, Wilkes has dedicated his life to improving the quality of life for the Latino community. He has been an instrumental force in developing programmatic and policy initiatives in education, economic development, civil rights, immigration, health policy, and diversity and inclusion.

“I am delighted to join the exceptional Hispanic Federation team,” said Wilkes. “Having worked closely with this respected organization on joint projects and initiatives over many years, I can say definitively that Hispanic Federation is at the forefront of creating institutional change for the Latino community. I am honored to have the opportunity to join this amazing institution as it undertakes a significant expansion of its services and advocacy across the country.”
