According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Cancer is the leading cause of death for Hispanic or Latino people in the United States. Compared to members of other races and ethnicities, Hispanic and Latino people have higher rates of getting and dying from some kinds of cancer.
With this in mind, Hispanic Federation has developed a community-based and social marketing program to provide cancer education, workshops, and cancer screening tools to latinos across New York City. Hispanic Federation also offers referrals for mail-in test kits that screen for breast and colon cancer.
Through our workshops, community members will learn about the different types of cancers, how to take measures to limit the risk of cancer, and preventative steps people can take to test and screen for different types of cancer.
