More than 11 million Americans have enrolled in a health insurance plan thanks to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). That’s millions of Americans who until recently didn’t have access to quality affordable health insurance for themselves and their families. But while the rate of uninsured Americans has dropped since the start of the program, the Centers for Disease Control reports that more than 25 million Americans are still without health insurance.

November 1st marked the beginning of the open enrollment period for people looking for health insurance and in order to help consumers get the plan they need and want, Hispanic Federation will host a series of enrollment events in all select communities in New York City. These events, which are free and open to the public, will provide consumers with hands-on support from experts from the New York State of Health Marketplace.

“When you look at the data,” said Hispanic Federation’s Vice President for Policy José Davila, “the Affordable Care Act has been one of the most successful health initiatives in U.S. history. Millions of people who were uninsured now receive insurance through Obamacare. There are still too many millions, however, who aren’t covered. We want to help those people and their families get the coverage they need. This is especially the case for Latino New Yorkers, who continue to lag behind in access to insurance.” The Hispanic Federation’s special enrollment events will take place on the following dates:
