Hispanic Federation (HF), the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization, will be featured in the 113th annual campaign for the New York Times Community Fund, formerly known as the “The Neediest Cases Fund”. Hispanic Federation joins CAMFED, Catholic Charities of Archdiocese of New York, Children’s Aid, Feeding America, First Book, OneGoal, Per Scholas, and UJA-Federation of New York in this recognition. Hispanic Federation has been a part of this annual campaign since 2022.

For 113 years, The New York Times Communities Fund has encouraged readers to help people who are under-resourced and over-burdened and has coordinated a holiday season giving campaign as a direct way to do just that. To date, The Fund has raised over $337 million for nonprofit organizations that have helped countless individuals improve their circumstances and lead more enriching lives. Funds raised through the 2024 campaign will help expand HF’s work in the following manner:

  • For every $400 donated, 1 individual will be able to access group and individualized mental health services
  • For every $375 donated, 300 individuals will have the opportunity to become more civically engaged
  • For every $200 donated, 5 families (approximately 20 individuals) will be able to access immigrant-focused services and public education campaigns

“Thanks to the support of the New York Times Communities Fund, the Hispanic Federation is addressing the intersectional challenges Latinos face in accessing mental health care, overcoming immigrant community fears, and participating fully in civil society. By raising awareness and funds, we can challenge stigmas our communities encounter while also providing vital support to those most underserved. Fortunately, our partnerships with trusted grassroots agencies ensure these services will reach the communities who need them most. This generous funding from the New York Times Communities Fund propels our mission to create positive change for Latino families and individuals, giving a voice to millions whose stories often go unheard,” said Hispanic Federation President and CEO Frankie Miranda.

Hispanic Federation is a nonprofit membership and advocacy organization, founded in 1990, committed to empowering and advancing the Hispanic community, with a focus on low-income, marginalized and immigrant Latinos. HF also maintains ongoing public education campaigns and meets the organizational development needs of its 750 member and partner agencies through grant-making and capacity-building assistance.
