Central America Hurricane Response Fund

Hurricane Iota has pounded Nicaragua and will bring torrential rains and more flooding to Honduras and parts of Guatemala and El Salvador. Just two weeks earlier, Tropical storm Eta struck a direct hit on that same part of the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua and Honduras. The human costs are heartbreaking– horrible flooding, high winds, and landslides. Now, many families who narrowly escaped with their lives, are once again in danger. This natural disaster is hitting Central America while it is still reeling from the COVID-19 global pandemic. Black and Indigenous communities who already suffer from historical patterns of exclusion and discrimination, are experiencing disproportionate devastation.

We can help!

Hispanic Federation has teamed up with Alianza Americas to support this urgent relief campaign. We invite other organizations to join us in this urgent mission and in our ongoing efforts to support Latin American and immigrant communities impacted by COVID-19 and intersecting crises like the climate emergency. Hispanic Federation kicked-off the Central American Hurricane Response Fund with a donation of $100,000.
