With a presence in the heart of Washington, D.C, our team works closely with lawmakers, advocates, and nonprofit partners to advance policies that empower Latinos across the country.

Our office in Washington, D.C. is led by Julietta Lopez, Vice President for Federal Advocacy and Network Mobilization, and Brent Wilkes, Senior Vice President for Institutional Development. Our presence in Washington, D.C. enables our team to lead days of action and advocacy days that serve as opportunities for our staff, member agencies, community members, and advocates to connect directly with lawmakers and discuss policies that can advance opportunity for Latinos and other historically marginalized communities across the country.

Days of Action and Advocacy Days

Recent days of action and advocacy days have centered around advancing digital equity to provide the tools, resources and training our communities need to thrive in our 21st century economy. The HF team also recently led an advocacy day to help transition Puerto Rico to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the same nutrition assistance provided to other low-income Americans.

Policy and Advocacy

HF collaborates with our network of nonprofits as well as local, state, and national leaders and institutions to identify inequities and develop solutions to address them. Our policy and advocacy work aims to advance Latino opportunity and equity by focusing on three pillars: civil rights, justice, and equity and empowerment.

Nonprofit Grantmaking and Philanthropy

HF is a leading grantmaker for nonprofits across the country, having provided more than $125 Million since 1990 to support our network of more than 600 nonprofit members and partners. This grantmaking plays a crucial role in establishing programs that uplift Latino families while also supporting the operational needs of the grassroots, nonprofit organizations that serve the community.
