With an office in Orlando, the Florida team has empowered Latinos across the state for decades through a variety of programs that civically engage community members, empower local nonprofit organizations, increase access to health resources, and so much more. Our Education Programs

In Florida, we are committed to enhancing Latino students’ educational careers through workshops and our peer-mentorship program CREAR Futuros. Learn more about these programs below.

Pathways to Academic Excellence

In Florida, our Pathways to Academic Excellence program empowers Latino students’ college enrollment and success. Through workshops, our Florida team is helping 1,000 parents and students understand college benefits, admissions, applications, and financial aid.

CREAR Futuros

CREAR Futuros is a free peer-mentorship program that recruits Latinx students in college to mentor, guide, and support younger students. In Florida, CREAR Futuros has partnered with the University of Central Florida.

Our Health Programs

Our Health work in Florida provides culturally and linguistically competent tools to help community members lead healthier lives. The Florida team also hosts events and workshops that help Latinos of all ages build active lifestyles through the Ser Saludable initiative.

Por Nosotros/Nosotras aims to give community members the knowledge and tools they need to improve their mental and physical health by increasing their positive outlook, managing challenges effectively, and adopting healthier lifestyles.

Ser Saludable

Hispanic Federation offers several preventative health and wellness resources and programs under its Ser Saludable initiative that focuses on maintaining healthy lifestyles in the Latino communities.

Centers of Thriving Communities

The Center for Thriving Communities (CTC) is a statewide initiative funded by a four-year grant from the Florida Blue Foundation. Our Florida team, along with partners UF Health Jacksonville, 904WARD and the Florida Health Justice Project, aim to enhance health and address social determinants of well-being across Florida. The collaborative is dedicated to creating enduring and impactful resources that empower all Floridians to achieve optimal health and well-being.

Get Up Get Moving (GUGM)

GUGM is the nation’s premier annual Hispanic family physical activity and healthy lifestyle event. During GUGM, Hispanic Federation promotes family physical activity and healthy lifestyles for people of all ages.

HELLO Program

Through our HELLO (Help, Education, Legal Assistance, Listening, Outreach) program, HF conducts monthly workshops with the Orlando Center For Justice to provide newly arrived migrants with culturally and linguistically competent information about the immigration system in America. This includes free legal guidance with trained lawyers and staff.

Economic Empowerment: ALAS

ALAS (Advancing Latinos by Aiding Seniors) is a dual-service initiative dedicated to supporting senior Latinos, tackling issues of isolation, and fostering social advancement. This program empowers this often overlooked community by offering transportation to vital services and digital training for accessing resources, communication, and education.

Nonprofit Organizational Development

Our team in Florida helps local nonprofit organizations strengthen their operations through workshops and administrative support. Our capacity building efforts focus on improving governance, financial management, strategic planning, fundraising, and program evaluation.

La Voz de Mi Gente: Civic Engagement

Through La Voz de Mi Gente, HF’s culturally and linguistically competent civic engagement campaign, our team in Florida partners with 15 organizations to keep the community civically informed and register and mobilize eligible voters throughout the state.

Citizenship Academy

This online project aims to provide tools and build skills for eligible Hispanic residents of Florida seeking to apply for American citizenship through USCIS. It offers educational materials, English language reinforcement, knowledge on U.S. government structure and history, and understanding of civic responsibilities for naturalization. Additionally, it guides future citizens on voter registration and civic engagement.

Hunger Relief in Florida

More than 1 in 5 Latinos face food insecurity and 1 in 4 Latino children live in food insecure households. HF’s hunger relief effort focused on boosting food support to families in Florida and across the country.

Nonprofit Grantmaking and Philanthropy

HF is a leading grantmaker for nonprofits across the country, having provided more than $125 Million since 1990 to support our network of more than 600 nonprofit members and partners. This grantmaking plays a crucial role in establishing programs that uplift Latino families while also supporting the operational needs of the grassroots, nonprofit organizations that serve the community.

Aunque la abundancia nos rodea, una de cada diez familias en el centro de Florida enfrenta la inseguridad alimentaria en silencio. ¡Este día de Acción de Gracias, demos gracias tomando Acción!

Hispanic Federation Florida se une a Telemundo 31, Walmart, AARP Florida y Renacer Foundation para celebrar Acción de Gracias de manera diferente.
Los exhortamos a que done alimentos en el Walmart localizado en 9047 Curry Ford en Orlando, los alimentos colectados llegarán a nuestras familias a través del banco de alimentos de la Iglesia Episcopal Jesus de Nazaret.
