Over 800 People Dance, Got Free Screenings and Learned to be Healthy!
On Sunday, August 29, 2010, the Hispanic Federation, in collaboration with the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, presented its fourth annual family celebration ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!™ to promote physical activity among Hispanics of all ages and sizes. Over 800 people participated in the event, which took place in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. GUGM’s lead local presenting sponsor was Toyota. Additional local support was provided by Aetna, Pfizer Helpful Answers, Asma en Español and Southwest Airlines. See gallery of pictures

NYC Workforce Development System Failing Latinos
The Hispanic Federation unveiled the results of a year-long research project on how Latinos are faring in New York City’s Workforce Development System entitled “Futures in the Balance: Meeting the Workforce Development Needs of Latinos in NYC.” The study highlights some of the considerable barriers low-income Latinos face in benefiting from public programs geared towards helping unemployed workers obtain gainful employment. The report also discusses important reforms that are needed to make the system work for Latinos.

Latinos Galvanized by Arizona Immigration Law
HF Report shows that Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration law has energized Latinos in support of fair, comprehensive federal immigration reform
The Hispanic Federation released a study of Latino public opinion measuring the remarkable unity of the Hispanic community in opposition to Arizona’s racial profiling law, known as SB 1070, and support for comprehensive immigration reform across political affiliations, degrees of assimilation, and national origin groups.
