Hispanic Federation Mobilizes Millions of Latino Voters to Show How Latinos are Shaping the 2024 Election and Beyond
Hispanic Federation partnered with 52 Organizations working on the ground to communicate directly with 2.6 million Latino voters to participate in the 2024 election
New York, NY – This year, the power of the Latino vote – especially the Puerto Rican vote – has received unprecedented attention. Due to Hispanic Federation’s deep roots in community, HF has continued to register and mobilize Latinos to get out the vote. HF has invested over $2 million to highlight how the Latino electorate is shaping the electoral fight in battleground states and to reiterate why Latinos are critical for all elections. By partnering with groups on the ground in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and many other states, La Voz Dae Mi Gente, a nonpartisan campaign to inform Latino voters and get them to the polls, is supporting an electoral infrastructure that can mobilize voters on election day and continue to grow the power of Latinos both economically and electorally in the years to come.
By the end of the day on election day, the campaign will have reached 2.6 million Latino voters across 13 states with phone calls, text messages and door knocking. La Voz de Mi Gente is being driven on the ground with partnerships with locally trusted organizations who are committed to work with the Latino community beyond election day and have worked extensively to engage with Latino communities in a culturally responsive way.
“We know the path to the White House goes through the Latino community, and today, we are seeing how the Latino vote will also play a critical role in deciding local Congressional races. We have been excited to see the surge in Latino voter enthusiasm in the past couple of months, and we know that the surge in enthusiasm must be met with meaningful policy solutions that go beyond platitudes. Conversely, we are making it clear in the ballot box that vilification of our communities, our families, and our ancestral homeland will not be accepted. I, along with millions of other Puerto Ricans, know the importance of showing up, casting my vote, and making clear that we are not garbage or allow attacks on the national stage. Similarly, when we know that Latinos across the country are voting in droves for a vision of the future where all of our communities can be treated with respect and where no one will live in fear of being targeted,” said Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation.
Below you can see quotes from a few of the organizations who we worked with to mobilize Latino voters across the country.
“So many people are so engaged! Many voted early and came to Centro because we are an early voting site. Mixed status families are excited because though parents may not be able to vote, they know that their children will. Some say this is the first time they’ve had someone knock on their door to talk about the elections focused on reaching the Latino community and they are grateful. I can tell the community feels included and I can feel they will show up. I hope the Latino vote will only grow in Wisconsin; our plan is to push for that in years to come,” said Karen Menéndez Coller, PhD, Executive Director of Centro in Wisconsin.
“I’m truly inspired by the incredible work accomplished this year to amplify the Latino voice on Election Day. Casa San Jose, a small non-profit organization, is making a significant impact by ensuring everyone has the opportunity to vote and engage in our democracy. We’re proud to have knocked on nearly 5,000 doors, made 6,000 phone calls, and sent 5,000 texts in our outreach efforts,” said Monica Ruiz Executive Director of Casa San Jose in Pennsylvania.
“Carolina Migrant Network has a long history of working with Latino youth and people impacted by the immigration system. Given the political climate around immigration, we knew it was crucial to step up our political outreach and education efforts. Through the La Voz de mi Gente Campaign, we have registered, educated, and mobilized first generation Americans just like ourselves,” said Stefania Arteaga Co-Director and Strategist of Carolina Migrant Network in North Carolina.
