Connecticut State Program Coordinator

Summary:
The Hispanic Federation seeks a Connecticut State Program Coordinator to support the Connecticut State Director in programmatic and advocacy efforts that work to uplift Latino families. The Program Coordinator will report directly to the State Director on a wide range of projects that expand the organization’s state-wide strategic goals and regional education, health, civic engagement and immigration portfolio.

Hispanic Federation’s Connecticut team focuses specifically on the following issue areas:

Education: College readiness and retention initiative that aims to significantly improve Latino college success in Connecticut through mentorship programs implemented in partnership with colleges and universities throughout the state.

Health Equity: Advocacy initiatives and community programs addressing issues of inequality and injustice as it relates to reproductive health and access to care.

Immigration: Advocacy initiatives calling for comprehensive, progressive immigration reform. Community programs providing essential services including but not limited to English as a second language courses and citizenship application assistance.

Civic Engagement: Community outreach, education and mobilization to encourage high levels of voter registration and participation for all levels of government in the Latino community. Hispanic Federation’s Connecticut State Program Coordinator will support the State Director in the above focus areas in:

• Organizing and managing logistics of culturally competent and bilingual trainings, workshops and events

• Coordinating with community-based organizations and HF member agencies on programmatic and advocacy goals

• Engaging with local and national elected officials and their staff to effect policy change

• Developing reports on the impact and outcomes of programs

• Drafting advocacy documents including testimonies, policy agendas and position papers

• Coordinating with key HF staff members including communications and policy teams

Education:
Minimum of a BA/BS degree

Experience:
At least three years of professional experience, preferably in program and public public policy work. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communications skills, ability to plan and execute on deadline, and prioritize and multi-task projects and duties spanning a wide-range of issue-areas. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills, ability to travel and a demonstrated commitment to Latino community are necessary. Experience in budgeting helpful. Ideal applicants will be efficient, results-oriented with high energy and exhibit an exceptional ability to work with others.
